What to Ask Your Cosmetic Manufacturer

Private-label and contract-manufactured brands need clear answers about who makes the product, who holds records, what documents are available, and who handles complaints.

Quick answer: Ask your manufacturer what they make, process, pack, document, and update for each product. Do not assume facility registration, product listing data, batch records, label versions, supplier documents, or complaint handling are covered unless you have written answers tied to your product records.

FAQ

What if the manufacturer says they handle everything?

Ask what "everything" includes and request written confirmation tied to each product. Save the answer next to the product row.

What if documents are not available?

Ask them to confirm that in writing. A clear unavailable answer is better than an unanswered gap.

Should I ask this before launch?

Yes. These questions are easier before labels are printed, listings are live, and customer complaints arrive.
